Redding Area Fisheries Presentation
The city of Redding is located right in the middle of California´s best trout fishing region. From the Triniy Alps to the west to Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen in the north and east, fly anglers can find a lifetime´s worth of excellent water to fish.

The tributaries to Lake Shasta are all great wild trout rivers. The Upper Sacramento, McCloud, and Pit Rivers are very productive freestone streams. They are rugged rivers that flow through deep canyons. The Pit River´s two primary tributaries, Hat Creek and Fall River, are excellent spring creeks. They are clear, slow meadow streams with abundant insect life and many large rainbows. The Lower Sacramento is a tailwater stream fed by the giant Lake Shasta. It is most commonly fished from drift boats, and its trout and occasional steelhead grow very large. To the east, the beautiful Trinity River is possibly the best steelhead river in California.

Andrew´s presentation discusses each river in detail, including access points, techniques, and flies. His slide presentation includes excellent maps and pictures of the area. Andrew lives in Redding and has guided in northern California since 1997.
